Open Winner Kicks Off Cullen's Triple
Nobetterplacetobe was the first of three winners on the Sunday afternoon (June 19) card of harness racing at Century Downs for Travis Cullen as he wired the field in the featured $9,000 Four-Year-Old Open Pace.
Nobettorplacetobe led the compact field of five through fractions of :28.4, :57.3 and 1:26.2 before holding off Johnny Gun, who closed off a three-hole trip, by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.3. Cool Cowboy edged out Big Time Sunrise for third-place honours while the winner's stablemate, Counter Strike, faded to fifth after pulling the pocket near the third quarter mark.
Cullen owns and trains the son of Bettors Delight out of Adela Hanover, who is now a six-time winner in 15 starts this year. He paid $2.80 to win as the 2-5 favourite.
Cullen also clicked with repeat winners Broadview Bridge ($5.50) and Raging Fingers ($2.30).
Ashleigh and Ed Hensley also sent out three winners during the nine-race program, including Drake ($11.30), Lightning Legs ($6.50), and Lifeimitatesart ($13.60), who was back in action for the first time since winning the Open on April 10.
