‘Lola’ Returns To Home Track
Multiple stakes winning trotting mare Her Name Is Lola will make her first start at her home track of Kawartha Downs in four years this Saturday night.
The six-year-old began her racing career at Kawartha on June 28, 2012 when she won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold elimination. It was the first lifetime start for the two-year-old who was driven by Paul MacDonell for local trainer John Bax.
The following week Her Name Is Lola returned to KD for the $130,000 final, where she finished fifth, and that was the last time she raced at the Fraserville oval. She has qualified over Kawartha’s five-eighths mile oval many times over the subsequent years, but not raced.
Local fans will have an opportunity to see her in action Saturday night in Race 6 where she has drawn Post 8. Russell Bax of Port Hope, John’s brother, purchased the daughter of Majestic Son at the end of her three-year-old season and handles her training as well.
Saturday’s outing will be the first 2016 start for the winner of $173,000 in her career to date. Doug Hie has been assigned the drive.
First-race post time Saturday night is 7 p.m.
