'Richard' Steamrolls Preferred Foes

Call Me Richard went to the front and didn’t look back for driver J Harris en route to a 1:57 triumph in Tuesday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Georgian Downs.

Harris hustled Call Me Richard to the lead from Post 5, and after carving panels of :28.3, :57 and 1:27 the four-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Olympic Dreams slipped home in a :30-second clip to win by 7-1/2 lengths over Lexis D J. Third prize went to Covert Operative.

The Clare Bradshaw pupil, who was sent off as the 6-5 choice, is owned by Princetown Farms Inc of Scotland, Ont. The win improved his 2016 record to 2-3-3 from eight starts, and the lion’s share of the purse bumped this year’s earnings to $22,815. The eight-time winner has stashed away more than $100,000 to date.
