'Luciano' Takes Summerside Feature
Casimir Luciano had to wait until the passing lane in order to get out to win the Sunday (June 5) feature at Red Shores Summerside. The time of the mile was 1:58.4.
Marc Campbell was in the bike for the victory for trainer/owner Ralph Sweet of O’Leary, P.E.I. Casimir Luciano was able to shake loose up the cones to break away from the field and notch his third win a row and his eighth of the season from only 11 starts. Zambuca Gass (Norris Rogers) was second with Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes) third. The 2-5-4 triactor returned $138.20.
Sweet also sent out Kayas Sweetheart, driven by Kenny Arsenault, in the finale to take top honours in the late Daily Double.
Drivers Ken Murphy and Dale Spence had three winners on the afternoon. Spence rallied with One Hot Camshaft, JJ Romeo and Offshore Cowboy for the triple.
Murphy, a participant in the Drive for Charity campaign with Metro Home Hardware and their charity PEI Special Olympics, scored with Jays Little Spark, Reincarnate and Machinthesand. The hat-track caps off a six-win performance over the weekend for Murphy.
Total wager was $16,167.
