Desperatehousewife Does It At The Downs
Desperatehousewife used a late-stretch rally to captured the featured $15,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Trot by a head over fan favourite Frenchfrysnvinegar on Saturday
at Georgian Downs.
The seven-year-old daughter of Jonathan Lobell was positioned fourth by driver Todd Ratchford through opening panels of :27.4 and :58.1 put up by Frenchfrysnvinegar (Paul MacKenzie). At that point, Gostreet (Lyle MacArthur) moved first-up from third providing Desperatehousewife with cover through three-quarters in 1:27.3. As the field turned for home with Frenchfrysnvinegar and Gostreet battling on top, Ratchford stepped on the gas and Desperatehousewide responded moving three-wide and unleashing a :29.1 final quarter. The bay managed to get up just in time for the mild 5-1 upset in 1:57.
Frenchfrysnvinegar was right there for second and Gostreet finished a length back in third.
Jean MacDonell trains and co-owns the winner of 37 races and $269,234 with Wayne Corini of Rockville, Maryland and Scott Jaconetty of San Jose, California. The win was Desperatehousewife’s third of the season in eight outings, which bumped her 2009 bankroll to $27,775.
