Charmed Life A Millionaire
Harness racing ushered in a new member to the Millionaires’ Club thanks to a 1:54.1 score by Charmed Life in Thursday’s $24,000 Fillies & Mares Trot at Mohawk Racetrack.
In rein to Jody Jamieson, Charmed Life tucked into the three-hole and stayed there while Stormont Kate stole away with sensible panels of :28.3, :57.1 and 1:26. Rockin With Dewey stormed out of the pocket to go after the leader as the field turned for home, and Jamieson started up the engine on Charmed Life. Charmed Life rocketed home in :27.3 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Rockin With Dewey and Missys Ga Ga.
Dave Menary trains the six-year-old daughter of Majestic Son-Christina M for Menary Racing Inc, Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero. It was the first win of the season in six tries. The 19-time winner boasts a bankroll that now stands at $1,007.116.
Earlier on the card fans had a chance to see the talented trotter Marion Marauder make his 2016 debut, and like Charmed Life – he didn’t disappoint.
The three-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Spellbound Hanover kicked off cover at the head of the lane and powered home in :28.1 to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55 for trainer Mike Keeling and driver Roger Mayotte.
Jean Wellwood and Devin Keeling own the colt who finished his rookie season with a 1-5-3 record from 13 starts in addition to a bankroll that topped $350,000.
