Bee A Magician Sidelined

Trot Insider has learned that the injury that forced star trotting mare Bee A Magician‎ to miss this past Sunday's Maxie Lee invitational trot has her sidelined for the time being and will keep her out of the upcoming Armbro Flight Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack.

Trainer Richard 'Nifty' Norman said Monday that Bee A Magician has "minor soft tissue damage" in her left front leg from a paddock injury, prompting the scratch from Sunday's race at Harrah's Philadelphia.

Norman estimated that the trotting mare "will probably be out about a month" and "will definitely miss the Armbro Flight." He did say, however, that the recovery time could be more or less depending on ‎how quickly the injury heals.

Unbeaten (3-for-3) in 2016, Bee A Magician (Kadabra - Beehive) is on the cusp of $4 million in lifetime earnings by virtue of her $3.96-million bankroll from 44 wins in 68 starts. She's owned by Ottawa's Mel Hartman, Canadian expat Herb Liverman, and Florida's David Mc Duffee.

Eliminations for the Armbro Flight are slated for June 10 with the final taking place on Pepsi North America Cup night, June 18. The next major stakes event on the older trotter schedule would be the Cutler Memorial on June 24 at The Meadowlands. Bee A Magician won both of these events in 2015, although the Cutler was raced in mid-May as opposed to late June.
