Audreys Dream Sets Century Record
Audreys Dream etched his name in the track record book at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino with a 1:52.2 victory in Sunday (May 29) afternoon's $10,500 Open Pace.
Campaigned by Ed and Ashleigh Hensley, the eight-year-old Rocknroll Hanover-Belovedangel gelding lowered the track record for aged pacing geldings by one-fifth of a second.
Leaving from post one, Nobettorplacetobe (Travis Cullen) fronted the five-horse field through fractions of :27, :55.1 and 1:23.2 while outside assignee Audreys Dream advanced first over from an early four-hole. The Hensley trainee matched strides with the pacesetter on the final turn before out-sprinting him to the finish for the three-quarter length victory, with his final quarter clocked in :28.4. The winner's stablemate, Spinfiniti (Travis Bowman), finished three and three-quarter lengths behind in third.
Sent postward as the 1-5 favourite, Audreys Dream paid $2.70 to win. He now sports a perfect four-for-four record this month racing against Open company at the Calgary oval.
Lifetime, Audreys Dream has won 28 races, including a 1:49.4 career-best effort as a five-year-old over Pocono Downs, and $384,048 in purses.
The former record was set last year by the current class-dropping Who Doesnt, who was a 1:54 winner in a $20,000 claiming-conditioned pace on Sunday to give trainer/driver Travis Cullen one of his four wins on the program.
