Red Star Hottie Takes On Entrymate
Entrymates Red Star Hottie and Lil Kim put on their game faces as they battled head-to-head down the lane in an attempt to take the featured $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace of Friday night at Fraser Downs

Modern Legacy (Gord Abbott) shot off the gate from Post 4 and strolled past the quarter in :27.4, but Lil Kim (James Burke) was on the move early and she popped the pocket and quickly took command of the field. That one led the way to the half in :57.3 before Red Star Hottie and trainer/driver Brent Beelby rolled up alongside her entrymate from fourth. Red Star Hottie matched strides with the pacesetter past the third quarter station in 1:26 and eventually wore her down in the stretch for the win in 1:54.3 by one and a quarter lengths.
Modern Legacy got up for second with Lil Kim finishing third.
Owned by Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C., Red Star Hottie scored her first win of the year in four starts. The four-year-old As Promised mare has won 10 times in her career earning a grand total of $139,710 for her connections.
In other action, Red Star Wildcard extended his win streak to seven in Race 10 for trainer/driver Serge Masse, who also shares ownership with James Vinnell of Langley, B.C. Using his usual front-end tactics, the four-year-old son of Village Jiffy prevailed by a head in 1:54.3 over Double L Trump (Keith Clark). The bay's ninth career win pushed his bankroll to $61,639.
