Red Shores Feature Wide Open
The door is wide open in the Thursday night feature at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.
First-race post time for the 11-dash card is 6:30 p.m.
A tight-knit field of eight is set to battle it out in Race 11. Idealic Life will look for redemption from Post 5 in the $2,100 event. Corey MacPherson is scheduled to be in the bike for trainer Trevor Hicken, owners Perry, Luke and Robin Burke, and Kent Livingston. The 12-year-old son of Western Ideal was back at the start in last Thursday’s top event and rallied for fifth. McJestic shows fine form and a decent post. Walter Cheverie will be in the bike and will start from Post 2. Eagle Jolt will be searching for a repeat of his preferred pace victory earlier in the season with trainer-driver Marc Campbell.
Other entries in the evenly matched field include Zambuca Gass (who will be driven by Gilles Barrieau), OK Galahad (Jason Hughes), American Captain (Kenny Arsenault), I D K (Vincent Poulton) and My Lucky Killean (Ken Murphy).
The top trotters on the east coast of Canada will line up in Race 6. Last year’s Atlantic Sires Stakes champion will have her first crack against aged company for a $1,950 purse. Paymenowpaymelater will have Gilles Barrieau in the bike from Post 1 in the Open Trot for trainer Earl Watts and owner Wade Peconi of Stanchel.
The back-up trot has been carded as Race 4. Caliban Hanover has dropped out of the Open Trot and is favoured to win from Post 5 for trainer-driver Ronnie Gass and owner Wendell MacDonald of Cornwall. Other top entries in the $1,550 class include Howmacs Pride (Arsenault) and Thunderaway (Hughes).
