Windsong Soprano Debuts Strong
Windsong Soprano made a strong sophomore debut on Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack establishing a Canadian season's record of 1:55.2 for three-year-old trotting fillies in the first race, a $35,000 conditioner
.
Driven to victory by Steve Condren, last year’s Peaceful Way Stakes winner sat third through the opening panels of :28.3 and :58.2 before moving first up by three-quarters in 1:27.3 and kicking home in :27.2 to win by a half-length over the pacesetter, Kandor Hanover (Randy Waples). Yursa Hanover (Rick Zeron) closed well to finish a length back in third.
All three fillies are eligible to the upcoming Casual Breeze Stake with divisions scheduled for next Friday, June 12 at Mohawk.
Windsong Soprano, a daughter of Windsongs Legacy, won three races in nine starts and earned $345,487 at two. She is trained by Bob McIntosh for Lothlorien of Cheltenham, Ont.
