Job Opening: OHHA Youth Camp

The very successful and widely acclaimed youth camps, presented by the Ontario Harness Horse Association, are currently looking for a caretaker to join the team

.

The youth camp trio (coordinator, instructor, caretaker) travels across Ontario, making scheduled stops at racetracks during the summer months, educating kids between the ages of 10-13 about horses and the harness racing industry in an interactive four-day program.

The position of the youth camp caretaker requires an independent self starter who knows the ins and outs of the harness racing industry, and can work cooperatively with staff, track personnel, horsepeople, students and their families.

The position will take direction from the youth camp coordinator and be responsible for the care of the youth camp horses at each camp. This is a contract position for the period of July 15 to Sept 6, 2009 with the expectation of implementing seven camps. The successful applicant will be compensated for each camp completed.

The Youth Camp Caretaker position requires:

  • ORC license
  • Ontario Provincial Police clearance
  • Must be available for the period July 15, 2009 to Sept 6, 2009
  • Must possess good organizational skills
  • Ability to delegate responsibility
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Responsible for care and management of horses and campers
  • Youth camp groom receives $500.00 per camp
