Claude Guevremont Passes
A funeral service will be held next Wednesday (May 11) in Sorel for longtime Quebec racehorse owner Claude Guevremont, who passed away last week at the age of 68.
He’d been in declining health for a couple of years.
Guevremont, who owned the popular bar Place Pigalle in Tracy for many years, also was a partner in the Sorel teletheatre that opened in 1995.
Horses in which he had a stake (often in partnership with Mario Deguise, Daniel Dube and/or Claude St-Georges) included Speedy Geo, Calgary Flutie, Stand Firm, Extra Energy, Star Maggy and Hippo Sorel (the latter named for the teletheatre).
He is survived by his son Sylvain and brother Réjean.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Salon S. Jacques & Fils, 75 Elisabeth St., Sorel-Tracy, and again starting at noon Wednesday, May 11, with the funeral scheduled for 2 p.m. at Eglise St. Pierre de Sorel.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Claude Guevremont.
