Hanover Season Plans Developing

Officials with Hanover Raceway have announced that the track will celebrate its 52nd year of pari-mutuel racing on Saturday, June 4, which will kick off the track’s live meet.

The track’s general manager, Gord Dougan, has said that many of Hanover’s 16 live days will have special features attached to them. Also, Dream Of Glory Day will once again feature live fireworks after the races on the Civic holiday weekend.

Opening day will see raceway caps given away with the first 300 live programs sold on site.

Saturday, June 11 will be Pepsi Day, and close to $2,000 in prizes will be given away, including backyard furniture, golf equipment and a bicycle or two.

The Country 93 Survivor Handicap contest will be back in July. The winner will receive a 50-inch high definition Smart TV package.

Bring a Friend day at the races will be Saturday, July 16. Also, Hanover Raceway will team up with the Hanover Hospital Foundation for a huge fundraising event on Saturday, August 27, which is the same date as the final for the Balanced Image Trot.

Dougan has conveyed that he is still hoping to finalize a deal on Molson Night at the races soon, and that he is close to finalizing a season-ending prize with another local sponsor.

The 152nd annual Hanover Fair will be held from August 12-14 this year and will include a teen video dance at the P and H centre, as well as an adult-licensed video dance on the Saturday night.

First-race post time will once again be at 7:15 p.m., except on Dream Of Glory Day on Saturday, July 30, when the first race will head to post at 6:15 p.m.
