Ashleys Husband Looking To Repeat
The Saturday night offering from the Meadowlands Racetrack is composed of twelve competitive events including four divisions of conditioned pacers fighting for a berth in next week’s ‘Dash for the G-Note’ finals.
The feature is Race 6, a $15,000 conditioned pace led by the winner of the same class one week ago, Ashleys Husband. With consistently improving form over the past few seasons, the Illinois-bred son of Henry Clay is off to a good start at age six for owner Bill Donovan and trainer Kyle Spanola. Usually a deep closer, Ashleys Husband has been kept closer to the pace these past few weeks, grinding up first-over to win for driver Vinnie Ginsburg Saturday last.
The competition is deep with Pansformative, who is likely to press the pace early, and Dovuto Hanover, who is known for his deadly late kick. Also noteworthy is the presence of My Hero Ron, who will make his first start as a four-year-old after a solid sophomore campaign for the Ron Burke stable.
The Meadowlands’ ‘Last Chance’ qualifier for the World Harness Handicapping Contest is a must-play for those that are looking to gain entry into the championship.
First-race post time for the Saturday card is 7:15 p.m.
