Six Straight For Nadia Can Go
It’s a six-pack and counting for Nadia Can Go, who survived a Judges’ inquiry before being declared the official winner in Tuesday’s featured tilt at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Nadia Can Go shot to the lead from Post 3 for driver Garrett Rooney, and together they led the group through fractions of :29, :59.4 and 1:28.4. A :29.3 closing quarter was used to seal the deal by a head over Winning Matrimony in 1:58.2. Race favourite Shadows Mystery was third.
The inquiry sign was posted shortly after the pacers crossed the finish line, and the stretch drive was reviewed to see if Nadia Can Go, who drifted off the rail, interfered with Shadow Mystery, who made contact with Nadia Can Go’s wheel in the closing strides. The ORC Judges left the numbers up declaring it was Shadows Mystery and driver Bob McClure that hit the winner's wheel.
Heather Toll trains Nadia Can Go for Brydown Farms Inc of Clinton, Ont. The four-year-old daughter of Major In Art-Canadia now boasts a 7-for-9 record this season and earnings in excess of $30,000. The 10-time winner has banked $53,148 to date.
