First Timers Click At Woodbine
It’s the time of year when a number of young horses start to find their way to the track, and despite some nasty weather a pair of them even found their way to victory lane Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack.
To His Credit kicked off his career with a 1:55.3 triumph for Team Jamieson. The three-year-old son of Up The Credit-Winning Hand got off to a slow start, but he made nice gains in the late stages of the $14,000 conditioned assignment en route to winning by 1-1/4 lengths over Sports Cologne.
Jody Jamieson guided the homebred to the win for trainer Carl Jamieson, who co-owns the gelding with breeder Joanne Morrison of Beeton, Ont.
Later on the card it was first-time starter Evangelin Seelster turning in an eye-catching victory in 1:55.2 for driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Andrew McCabe. The three-year-old daughter of Camluck-Eagle Kelly got away fourth before rushing to the lead at the mid-way point in :57.2. She led to the three-quarter pole in 1:27 before rocketing home over the sloppy oval in :28.2. She won the $14,000 conditioned tilt by 2-3/4 lengths over Bring Me Diamonds.
Glenview Livestock Ltd of Wallenstein, Ont. owns the youngster, who was a $13,000 purchase from the 2014 Forest City Yearling Sale.
