Fearless Man Goes Gate To Wire
Fearless Man can make speed with the best of them, and that weapon came in quite handy en route to posting a sharp score in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack.
Trainer/driver Rick Zeron, who carved out a :25.4 opening quarter with Fearless Man in last Monday’s assignment, hustled the trotter to the lead and put a :27.2 opening panel on the teletimer. From there, they led the group through middle splits of :56 and 1:24 before stepping home in :29.3 for the 1:53.3 tally. It was 4-1/4 lengths in arrears to runner-up Charlie Is A Joker, while third prize went to Hldontghttoyurdrms.
The victory improved the gelding’s 2016 record to 3-2-2 from just eight tries, and the lion’s share of the loot bumped the 25-time winner’s cash stash to $444,891. The six-year-old son of Elegant Man-Lasting Beauty is owned by Rick Zeron Stables, Noblock Racing Stable, Murray Greenfield and Cool Cat Racing Inc.
