Potvin Pupil Takes Care Of ‘Business’
The trip was a tough one for A Nashty Business in Thursday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs, but that didn’t stop the gelding from posting an impressive victory.
With Robert Shepherd at the lines, A Nashty Business got away fourth and watched as Innkeeper took the field to the opening quarter in :28.1. A Nashty Business applied first-over pressure on Innkeeper through middle fractions of :58.4 and 1:27.3 before putting away that foe around the final turn. A :30.4 closing quarter propelled A Nashty Business to the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Dragin The Wagon in 1:58.2. Innkeeper tired and settled for third.
Sent off as the odds-on choice, the seven-year-old son of Armbro Nash-Lemego won for the third time in six starts this season for owner/trainer Daniel Potvin of Rockwood, Ont. The 13-time winner is closing in on $90,000 in career earnings.
