Mohegan Blue Chip A Big Bargain

Everyone loves finding a good deal, and it looks like Mohegan Blue Chip falls into that category for trainer Des Tackoor and partners Tony Valentini, Don Lee and Kevin McKinlay.

The partners shelled out a mere $7,000 for Mohegan Blue Chip at last fall’s Harrisburg Mixed Sale – a significant discount from the pacer’s original price tag of $215,000 from the 2013 Harrisburg Yearling Sale.

Mohegan Blue Chip bested the foes he faced in a $14,000 conditioned tilt at Woodbine Racetrack on Thursday evening, and in doing so he improved his 2016 record to 1-1-1 from four starts for the new connections.

Roger Mayotte pointed the four-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Casino Miss to the lead right from the outset, and the gelding sliced his way through panels of :28, :57.3 and 1:26. A :29-second kicker earned the pacer the win by 1-3/4 lengths over Daylight Rush.

Sent off at odds of 6-1, Mohegan Blue Chip bumped his lifetime earnings to $12,930 with the win.
