Racing Promo Hits Mainstream
You know you’ve got styles if you’ve hit GQ’s radar. The dapper men’s publication has been the Grand Poobah in showcasing the suave since 1931. It has recently turned a bit of its focus to a handsome male in a three-piece Harris Tweed suit (and matching driving cap). And, yes, the male in question just happens to be a racehorse.
GQ is one of many media outlets to run some images of Morestead, a Thoroughbred that has gotten decked out as part of a promotion for the beginning of the annual Cheltenham Festival in Gloucestershire, England.
The article explains that Morestead’s threads have come courtesy of designer and former Alexander McQueen apprentice named Emma Sandham-King. The piece also states that Sandham-King and her crew spent four weeks on the outfit that required ten times more tweed fabric than the average male outfit.
Morestead wasn’t the only one to strut his stuff for the camera. He was joined by champion rider Sir Anthony McCoy in the William Hill shoot.
“I think the tweed really suits Morestead,” said McCoy, “and I think he will certainly win ‘best-dressed horse.’”
