Ufdragons Rocket Circles Preferred Foes
Last at the half, Ufdragons Rocket was launched wide by driver Alfie Carroll and defeated his rivals in the $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace on Sunday night (March 6) at Flamboro Downs.
Akoya overtook the quick-leaving longshot Stoney Durkin during the :28.3 first quarter before being confronted by the 3-5 favourite Statesman N. A winner of this class two weeks ago, Statesman N rushed up from third and battled head-to-head with Akoya past the half in :58.1 and into the backstretch. Colorado Buck then went wide to take over the lead before Stateman N could clear Akoya.
Meanwhile, Ufsdragon Rocket followed near the back of the field and could see all of his six rivals at the midway mark. As the field raced down the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:27.1, Carroll went wide with the
seven-year-old Dragon Again gelding.
Colorado Buck turned for home with Ja El Pocketrocket moving up alongside off his cover and Ufsdragon Rocket closing in on the outside. Down the stretch, Ufsdragon Rocket went by to score the 1:57 triumph over the "good" track by three-quarters of a length. Ja El Pocketrocket was second with Colorado Buck finishing inside third.
Ufdragons Rocket is trained by Richard Moreau and owned by 5527920 Manitoba Ltd. He earned his second win of the year from eight starts and 22nd lifetime.
Ufdragons Rocket was the 3-1 second choice and paid $7.90 to win.
