Reminder: Fire Fundraising Dance
A fundraising dance has been organized to further assist those affected by the Classy Lane barn fire earlier this year.
The benefit dance takes place on Wednesday, March 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Waterdown Legion. Organizer Tammey McEneny noted that local businesses have been extremely generous with donations for a silent auction, including Toronto Maple Leafs tickets and equine art. There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 draw, and Joey Shea will be providing the tunes as DJ for the evening.
“People are hungry; they are struggling to survive with something they are passionate about,” McEneny told the Flamborough Review “My purpose is to spread positive energy to fellow horse people that have had such tragedy.”
McEneny is hopeful that the event will provide many in the harness racing industry -- whether impacted by the tragic fire or not -- a fun night out for a good cause, especially on a night when many local horsemen aren't racing.
“It’s an opportunity for people to have a time out,” said McEneny. “Wednesday is not a race day, so everyone associated with the industry can make it.”
The cost for tickets is $15 per person. Tickets will be available at the door, or can be purchased in advance at the Flamboro Downs race office on race days (Thursday, Saturday or Sunday). For more information, contact Tammey McEneny at 289-260-6903 or Marnie Bochenek at 905-572-3566.
Donations will also be accepted up until the day of the event.
