Robert Shepherd Update

According to an article by Nicholas Oakes in the Journal Pioneer, driver Robert Shepherd, injured in the multi-horse accident at Woodbine Racetrack March 2, has been back in action, somewhat, and has a rough date targeted for his return to the races

.

The Journal Pioneer article also states that Shepherd is slated to undergo surgery for the removal of some kidney stones on Friday, May 29. The report states that Shepherd is walking with a cane and has jogged two horses in the past week to get back into the swing of things. He has apparently targeted his return for sometime in early June.

“I want to feel comfortable,” Shepherd was quoted as saying. “I’m excited to get back, but on the other hand I don’t want to have an injury that’s going to hinder me the rest of my life.”

Thank You Standardbred Canada for the update.
Nice to hear he will be back in action soon.
This family has had their share of bad luck in this
business. Cousin Kurt Hughes in that horrible car
accident and then Robert in the massive pile up.
Two very talented young drivers on the mend!

Good job Robert, can't wait to see you out there again. BUT, take care of yourself. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your recovery.
