Im Tu Die For Dominates At Fraser
Im Tu Die For came up a neck short against some of Fraser Downs’ leading ladies on January 29, but she bounced back and cruised to a three-length win in Sunday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open.
Trainer/driver John Chappell was in no hurry with the productive pacing lass who got away fifth in the early stages of the contest. The early lead belonged to Drawing Dead who powered to the top from Post 7 and had the field behind her at the quarter pole in :27.3. Im Tu Die For was on the move shortly past that post, and she was parked and driving in a bid for the lead at the mid-way point in :58.4.
Chappell cleared to the top with his charge before powering out to a 2-1/2 length lead at the three-quarter station in 1:26.3. A :29.1 closing panel helped propel the mare to the 1:55.4 score over Prairie Illusion. Drawing Dead wound up taking home third prize.
Sent off as the odds-on choice, Im Tu Die For notched her third win of the season – and her 17th to date – for owner Ross Sharp of Campbell River, BC. The lion’s share of the loot lifted her lifetime earnings to $144,520.
