Carroll Drives Five Friday Winners
Canada's 2015 top dash-winning reinsman Alfie Carroll accumulated the most victories on the Friday, Jan. 29 card at The Raceway at the Western Fair District with a five-for-nine driving record on the night.
Carroll was victorious in his first drive of the night in the second dash, with Unwavering ($10.90) for trainer Mauricia Taylor, to kick off a three-race win streak that also included victories aboard Panedictine ($4.10) for conditioner Larry Johnson and the Victor Puddy-trained trotter Raising Richard ($5) that he also co-owns. Carroll also won the seventh race with Darktwistedfantasy ($4.50), who is campaigned by Don Meekison Jr., and the 10th race finale with Ginger ($2.90) to complete a perfect night for the Johnson stable.
Last year, Carroll posted career-high stats of 408 wins to lead all drivers in Canada and over $2.3 million in purses. Of course, winning multiple races per night is not unusual for the 30-year-old Iona Station, Ont. reinsman, who had as many as six winners on a single program just over two weeks ago on January 12 at The Raceway. He is on pace to smash his 2015 numbers with 56 wins and $255,998 in purses already through the first 29 days of the New Year.
