Yonkers Cancels, Big M Closes

Add the Meadowlands Racetrack to the list of tracks that have been affected by a mass tote system outage affecting much of the United States.

The Meadowlands announced Tuesday afternoon (January 26) that due to a nationwide outage of the Sportech tote system, the track and Winners Bayonne OTW will close for the day effective immediately.

The Meadowlands release states that the tote system outage prevents the facilities from being able to accept wagers, and that the issue has also cancelled live racing at other facilities in the country.

The Meadowlands and Winners Bayonne are expected to open for regular simulcasting on Wednesday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m.

Yonkers Raceway’s 12-dash program of live racing that was scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled.

Live racing at Yonkers is scheduled to resume Thursday evening (Jan. 28), with first post at 7:10 p.m. Afternoon simulcasting is scheduled to return Wednesday (Jan. 27).

Monticello Raceway also cancelled its Tuesday program for the same reason.

On the thoroughbred side, Mahoning Valley Race Course in Ohio chose to race their Tuesday card without any wagering, while Sam Houston Race Park in Texas, and Turf Paradise in Arizona also cancelled.
