Meadows' Friday Card Cut Short
Dew N Doughnuts moved willingly second over before vaulting to the lead in the stretch and capturing the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace on Friday’s snow-shortened card at The Meadows.
The track cancelled the final seven of 13 scheduled races when persistent snow rendered the surface hazardous.
Dew N Doughnuts followed the cover of My Temudjin N before Tony Hall moved him three-wide into the final turn. The six-year-old son of Real Desire-Artbitration held off the unlucky Capital Account, who lacked racing room, and defeated him by a neck in 1:55.4 on a surface listed “good.” Early leader Bestinthebusiness saved show.
Norm Parker trains the homebred Dew N Doughnuts, who now boasts $278,049 in career earnings, for Thomas Klosky Jr.
Among the races cancelled were those comprising the Pick 5, which was to feature a $25,000 total-pool guarantee. That guarantee will be offered for Monday’s Pick 5.
