Gingras Winning In Bunches At Dover
Yannick Gingras has made winning a habit Mondays at Dover Downs, once again putting on a multiple-win performance on the Monday (Jan. 18) card.
Gingras now has a six-win night to go along with five- and four-win performances in his previous seven Monday appearances at the track. Gingras steered Class Six to the pacer's eighth victory in nine races for Weaver Bruscemi and Burke Racing Stable. The five-year-old altered son of Western Ideal-Vs Fu River rolled past Apollo Seelster (Jonathan Roberts) in deep stretch for a personal best 1:52 victory in a $15,000 Four- & Five-Year-Old Male Winners-Over pace. Totally Dreamy (George Dennis) picked up third money.
Gingras' other winners were Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta’s Adventure Bound in 1:52.1 in a $14,000 Male Winners-Over; Howard Taylor’s Cashendash Hanover in 1:50.4 winning a $20,000-$25,000 Male Claimer; Tom Lazzaro’s Rocknroll Jewel, a 1:51 win in a $12,500 Male pace and Grantland, owned by Rich Lombardo, C.A. Alley, C.L. Atley and JJ&M Stable, in 1:54 taking a $11,500 pace for young males and completed the card guiding Absolute Return Stable’s Baby Kitty to a nose win in 1:54.1 in a $13,500 Four & Five-Year-Old Male pace.
Bad Boy Matt pulled a 10-1 upset in the $27,500 Delaware Special Handicap feature race.
Allan Davis unleashed Bad Boy Matt in the stretch closing swiftly to catch front-pacing Captive Audience late in the stretch to post a 1:51.1 victory in the feature. It was the Badlands Hanover-Mattercycle six-year-old gelding’s third win of the meet to go along with a second and three thirds in his last eight starts for trainer Wayne Givens and owners Regginald Hazzard and Legacy Racing. Raritan Bay (Bret Brittingham) also closed well to finish third. The win was the 17th lifetime while banking $251,307.
Skyway Gladiator, an 8-1 shot, got up at the wire to win the other $15,000 sub-feature for young male horses in 1:54. Twin B Stingray (Vic Kirby) and Rip N Rock (A.Davis) were in the tight photo and had to settle for second and third respectively.
Meet-leading trainer Dylan Davis haltered two winners.
CHEYENNE ROBIN STEPS UP TO $20,000 OPEN AT DOVER TUESDAY
Cheyenne Robin, an impressive winner last week, steps up a notch to the $20,000 Mares 0pen pace on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
The Cheyenne Gang’s hard-hitting four-year-old Cheyenne Robin, fresh from an impressive victory a week ago, takes on the top female pacers at the track in this week’s top mares pace. Chris White’s fast-finishing Fashion Showdown with Ross Wolfenden has been at the top of her game in recent starts, while JFE Enterprise’s Scandalicious and Tim Tetrick has also been racing well.
Howard Taylor’s steady Shine N Shimmer will be driven by Allan Davis this time. Jeff Clark’s Springforth and George Dennis closed strongly last week. The other contenders are Hearts And Flowers and No Respect leaving from the rail.
A strong undercard is topped by a $15,500 Four- & Five-Year-Old Mares pace. Among the nine starters are Eric Becker’s Flying Nun (Tyler Davis), Gary Ewing’s Sweet Bobbie (Callahan) and Fashion Rocker (Wolfenden).
