'Nashty' Wins Another Preferred
For the second week in a row, A Nashty Business reeled in the race leader to post a Preferred victory on the Sunday program of harness racing at Flamboro Downs.
On Sunday night (Jan. 17), A Nashty Business wore down front-stepper Dragin The Wagon (:28.1, :59.1, 1:29.2) in the final strides to win the $11,000 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Trot by a head. Sent off as the 6-5 favourite after his persistent first over score in last Sunday's Preferred 3, A Nasty Business tracked the cover of eventual third-place finisher and the parked out Cimeronken this time out then rallied wide during the third panel and duelled past Dragin The Wagon in the stretch for the 2:00 triumph. He paid $4.60 to win.
Robert Shepherd catch-drove the Armbro Nash gelding for Rockwood, Ont. owner/trainer Daniel Potvin, who had driven the seven-year-old trotter in his prior 11 wins and 72 career starts. A Nashty Business's back-to-back victories in 2016 have lifted his bankroll to $83,124.
