Steve Schedlosky Passes

The family of Steve Schedlosky is sad to announce his passing away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon from a short battle with cancer at the age of 83.

Born August 18, 1932 in Humboldt, Sask. to Joe and Mary Schedlosky, Steve was well known in the field of Standardbred racing in Canada and the U.S.A. Steve loved animals and excelled as a trainer, driver and ferrier of Standardbred horses.

Steve is survived by his wife, Ivy McLeod, and children, Joe Schedlosky, Judy (Pat) Hollingsworth, Gail Schedlosky, Garry Schedlosky and Wendy (Steve) Sweeney, step-children, Jeff (Deb) McLeod and Laurel (Charles) Travis. Steve is father to Garry Schedlosky (driver/trainer) and step-father to Jeff McLeod (trainer) of Edmonton, Alta.

Funeral Service will be at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon on Friday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations to your local SPCA.

Steve was one tough competitor; Sandiland Holly and Shyloh Lacy were the two best three year old fillies in Saskatchewan in 1988, and I can remember those battles. Thanks for the memories Steve. Rest in peace my friend. Sam Taylor

Without a doubt one of the toughest horseman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and one of the best farriers to ever set foot in Western Canada. My sincerest condolences to Ivy, Garry , Jeff, Deb and the family.
