MacDonald Triples Up, Keep It Real Repeats

Clare MacDonald had a very good day at the office on Sunday thanks to her driving and training triple at Truro Raceway, and Truro fans also watched a speedy sohpmore step to his second win in as many tries on the Sunday card

.

The win parade started for MacDonald in the second race with West River Redwing, who rallied to a narrow victory in 2:07.3. West River Tom found his way to the winner’s circle in the third race for MacDonald, who watched the gelding front-step his way to a 2:02.2 score.

The hat trick was complete in the eleventh race thanks to a 2:02.2 triumph with Dreams Matter. The four-year-old son of Matter Of Money, who was sent off as the 1-2 favourite, got up in the final strides for the win.

MacDonald has sent out 430 winners in her career, and the driving triple bumped her lifetime win total to 1,075.

Truro’s matinee program started off with an impressive performance turned in by Pepsi North America Cup eligible Keep It Real, who is now undefeated in two tries for trainer Emmons MacKay and owner/driver Marc Whebby of Dartmouth, NS.

The son of Real Artist, who was a $45,000 yearling purchase at Harrisburg, broke his maiden in his first lifetime start at Truro Raceway one week ago. The time for that mile was 2:00.2. He followed up that win with a 1:58.4 effort in this afternoon’s follow-up assignment.

The colt chopped out fractions of :29.2, 1:00 and 1:29.2 before finishing off his foes with a final quarter clocked in :29.2. The 1:58.4 performance was the only sub-2:00 mile on today’s 13-race program.
