2016 Indiana Race Dates Approved

The Indiana Horse Racing Commission approved the 2016 race dates during its meeting on December 9.

Hoosier Park (Anderson, Indiana) proposed and was granted a total of 160 days of Standardbred racing, commencing on Friday, April 1, 2016 and concluding on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Racing will take place Tuesdays through Saturdays with a first-race post time of 5:45 p.m.

Indiana Grand (Shelbyville, Indiana) proposed and was approved for a total of 120 of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing, commencing on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 and concluding on Saturday, October 29, 2016. One-hundred-fourteen days will be devoted to Thoroughbred racing with occasional Quarter Horse racing added into the days racing program. Six days will be devoted exclusively to Quarter Horse racing. Post time for weekdays will be 2:15 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. on Saturdays.

In addition, a presentation was made by Jim Brown, president and COO of Centaur Gaming, regarding both Indiana Grand’s and Hoosier Park’s race meets that recently concluded. The presentation highlighted the successes at each track, capital improvements and marketing efforts during the 2015 meet.
