Brandon Cs Cruises In Preferred
Ross Battin treated Brandon CS to a two-hole trip in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the gelding parlayed it into a comfortable score.
Waikiki Hanover shot to the top, and that left Brandon CS taking a pocket drop right from the word ‘Go’. Waikiki Hanover sped through panels of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:27.4, but he lacked the staying power needed to fend off Brandon CS. Battin found his charge clearance in the lane and used a :30.3 closing quarter to win by 2-1/4 lengths over race favourite Cimeronken. Waikiki Hanover settled for third prize.
Trainer Janice Annett of Wyoming, ON co-owns the six-year-old son of Chocolatier-C C Jennifer with Marjorie Simmons of Chatham, ON. It was the seventh win of the season for the 24-time winner who boasts a bankroll that now stands at $148,383.
