Unabating Stars In Rideau Feature
When 1-2 favourite Creampuff Macdaddy's chances at scoring his third straight win in the $6,950 Winners Over Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway diminished as he broke stride at the start from the outermost post, the Sunday night feature turned into the Unabating show.
Post five starter Unabating came through between horses and worked past early leaver Rocky Boy through a 28-second opening panel to secure the leading role. He then cruised through middle splits of :58.2 and 1:28 and held off the oncoming Four Starz Speed and passing lane pursuer Rocky Boy by a quarter-length for the 1:57.4 victory.
Guy Gagnon drove Unabating to the mild 8-1 upset. The Gerard Demers trainee paid $19.40 for a $2 Win ticket.
The victory was the ninth this year in 25 starts for the seven-year-old Broadway Hall gelding, who is owned by Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, Que. and Les Ecuries GLD Inc. of St-Andre-Avelin, Que.
