Nogreatmischief Wins P.E.I. Feature
Nogreatmischief, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, rallied from the back of the pack to win the Saturday feature in 2:02 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The track was rated 'sloppy' with a three-second variant.
Nogreatmischief, who is co-owned by Cheverie and John Thompson of Charlottetown, was sitting fifth at the head of the stretch in the $2,100 feature before knocking off First Art Down, (Ken Murphy) and Oh To Be Me (Gary Chappell) in the lane to win by a length.
The $2,350 Mares Open went to Best Risque for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Brian Ladner. The eight-year-old mare notched her third win in a row and ninth in her 2015 campaign with the 2:01.1 score. Lilian and Kevin Ladner also share ownership on the pacer, who made her 40th start of the season.
Campbell also won with Nuck Phil for conditioner Jennifer Trainor. The newcomer is enjoying the move with three victories from five Island assignments.
In other action, Brian Andrew recorded a driving double, beginning with a convincing five and half length romp with Neal in one of the two trot divisions slated on the card. Andrew then converted a pocket ride to victory lane with Blazing By.
The other trot match-up was won by Phantom Beau for driver Gordie Hennessey, trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Peter Breau and Ann MacAulay, Moncton, N.B.
Jason Hughes put in a two-win performance on the afternoon. One of his winners was Foxyhall Racing's four-year-old pacing mare Sam, who is now six-for-six since arriving in Hughes' stable last month.
