'Hooligan' Wins Again; Four More For Allard
Rose Run Hooligan held on by a neck to win the featured $15,000 Preferred Trot for horses and geldings and prevent his impressive win streak from being snapped
on Tuesday at Georgian Downs.
The six-year-old son of Corleone, driven by Simon Allard for trainer Rene Allard, was parked to the first quarter in :28 but quickly moved into command ahead of Renaissance Man (Jody Jamieson). The 2-5 favourite then opened up by two lengths at the half in :57.4. From there, Renaissance Man pulled the pocket and applied pressure past three-quarters in 1:26.3, but Rose Run Hooligan dug in with determination and reached the wire first by a neck in 1:55.1. Celebrity Abs (Scott Coulter) rounded out the top three.
Rene also co-owns the winner of 27 races and over $400,000 with Anne Okeefe of Ferryland, Nfld. and Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc of Saint-Leonard, Que.
Rose Run Hooligan extended his win streak to six with the victory and gave Rene, who scored a hat trick this afternoon at Kawartha Downs with his brother, a grand slam during Georgian’s 11-race program.
Earlier on the card, Scott Coulter drove Fox Valley Summit (1:59) to victory before Jody Jamieson engineered a pair of winning trips aboard Shes A Hustler (1:57.3) and Cheers To Chip (1:57.1).
The training quadruple bumped Rene's win totals to 102 for the year and 494 in his career.
