Cullen Increases His Lead At Century
While the inaugural Century Downs meet is winding down, leading horseman Travis Cullen stable has remained red hot and enjoyed another multiple-win performance during a special Wednesday program at the Calgary racetrack.
Cullen won one-third of the afternoon's nine races with his own trainees Southwind Luna ($3.60), Bounty Boy ($3.50) and Wigesjet ($3.20). He also drove Rocket Moma ($5.90) to an 11-1/2 length triumph for trainer/owner Cory Manning.
The 23-year-old horseman clinched the track's first training and driving titles long ago and heads into Saturday's season finale with a lead of more than 100 wins in each category. Cullen has driven 188 winners at Century Downs while Brandon Campbell sits second in the standings with 73 victories. Horses from his stable have won 177 races to lead over Kelly Hoerdt's 69 training victories.
Those numbers have helped propel Cullen to his first million-dollar season. His stable has the second-most wins in all of Canada and a nation-leading URS of .518.
