'Creampuff' Draws Off At Rideau
A recent newcomer to the Rideau Carleton racing scene, Creampuff Macdaddy took off down the backstretch and never looked back to post a dominant victory in the featured $6,800 Winners Over Handicap Trot on Sunday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Owned and trained by Nathalie Seguin of Gatineau, Que., Creampuff Macdaddy ($13.70) worked to the lead through a :27.2 first quarter and cleared in front of the grandstand. He reached the half-mile mark in :57 and then began to pull away from his seven rivals, opening up five lengths by three-quarters in 1:26 and widening his leading margin by a another two lengths before reaching the wire in 1:57 flat. Early leader Heres The Magic followed in second-place and Maximuscle finished third.
The five-year-old son of Ken Warkentin now has two wins in four Rideau starts -- his two losses marred by miscues.
Creampuff Macdaddy was one of five winners on the 12-race card that were driven by Rideau leader Guy Gagnon.
