Cimeronken Romps To Preferred Victory
Teaming up with driver Ryan Holliday for the first time in his career, trotter Cimeronken was unstoppable in the $7,500 Preferred 3 on Friday night at The Raceway at the Western Fair District as he romped to a six-length victory.
Holliday had Cimeronken in the fray three-wide leaving from post five while El Diablo Hall overtook insider SOS Ticket Master for the early lead. Cimeronken then worked to the top past the :27.2 opening quarter mark and reached the half in :58.3. The Ken Warkentin gelding then began to open up on top en route to three-quarters in 1:28.3. He continued to trot away from his foes down the stretch and extended his leading margin to six and a quarter lengths by the wire in 1:59.1. Longshots O U Sexy Guy and Torches Angel rallied home from the backfield to finish second and third, respectively, while El Diablo Hall finished fourth.
The Daryl Roberts trainee was the 7-2 second choice in the eight-horse field and paid $9.20 to win while leading a $99.20 exactor and $915.10 triactor.
Cimeronken has hit the board in just over half of his 28 starts while banking $44,664 in purses during his six-year-old campaign. The homebred trotter has earned 19 wins and $226,290 lifetime for owner Denise Anderson of Mossley, Ont.
