Long before the days of rapid transmission of news we relied on magazines and the printed word for information. When the latest edition of publications such as The Canadian Sportsman, Harness Horse, Horseman & Fair World or Hoof Beats arrived, it was time to take a breather and do a little reading. The front cover invariably had a top personality, the finish of a big race or perhaps a winner's circle photo. To be on the front cover was special. This 1958 issue of Harness Horse carried a great photo of Billy Haughton. I am sure at the time he could have had his picture displayed without showing a name and a huge percentage of the reading audience would have recognized him instantly.
