Maritime Breeders Elims At Truro
One week removed from Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend, a number of the Maritimes' top two-year-olds made the trek to Truro Raceway for eliminations of the Maritime Breeders Stakes.
Two-year-old trotters kicked off the action with two $1,500 eliminations. Mr Bower came into the race with as the least seasoned of the freshman with only one prior start, but certainly made a name for himself with a sharp 2:05.4 score for trainer-driver Ken Arsenault over Da Master (Marc Campbell) and favoured Time Warp (Danny MacDonald).
Wade Peconi owns Mr Bower (Meadowagogo-Credibility) a half-brother to OSS competitor Buddy Hally and Atlantic Breeders Crown winner Paymenowpaymelater.
ABC two-year-old winner Glencove Zani kept his current form in tact by scooting to his third straight win, this one in 2:08.3. Favoured Craigh Na Dun was a length and a quarter back in second with B J Classic (Clare MacDonald) rounding out the triactor.
Joey Smallwood trains and owns Glencove Zani (Bo W-Butterscotchsundae), a winner of three in nine tries with six top-three finishes.
