Indiana Stakes Stars Set To Shine
The 2015 Indiana Sires Stakes program will culminate at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Saturday, Oct. 10 with the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Finals. The star-studded 14-race card will showcase the best trotters and pacers in the state of Indiana and provide an exciting conclusion to the 2015 stakes season.
With purses in excess of $1.6 million, the Indiana Sires Stakes Super night will be one of the richest nights offered in the history of the Indiana Sires Stakes program featuring eight $200,000 finals. The two and three-year-olds competing in the Super Finals have accumulated points throughout the season, based on performance in the previous $75,000 finals, and the top point-earners will return to seek glory in the $200,000 finals. Complimenting the program will be four divisions for the aged competitors, each carrying a purse of $50,000.
Freshman standout Topville Cadillac will look to continue her dominance in the two-year-old pacing filly ranks from post three in race five, the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for freshman pacing fillies. The daughter of Rockin Image-Topville Cyberwave currently holds the divisional track record at Hoosier Park after her 1:52 score in Grand Circuit action last week. Tyler Smith will be at the lines for trainer Alvin Miller.
Homicide Hunter will put his 14-race winning streak on the line facing nine other rivals in the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings. With John DeLong in the sulky, the Curt Grummel trainee has been installed as the 2-5 morning line favourite from post six.
In the three-year-old pacing filly ranks, Rockin Good and Jared Finn will also put a winning streak on the line against nine other rivals in the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for three-year-old pacing fillies. The daughter of Rockin Image-Do Me Good has won five of 15 starts this year and set a new lifetime mark of 1:48 at The Red Mile earlier in the season. Starting from post six, Rockin Good has been tabbed as the 2-1 morning line choice.
The 2015 Little Brown Jug winner, Wiggle It Jiggleit, will return to Hoosier Park seeking glory in the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Slated as the 13th race on the program, Wiggle It Jiggleit will be driven by Montrell Teague and start from post three. Indiana Sires Stakes champion Freaky Feet Pete and driver Trace Tetrick will start from post 10 in the field.
“Hoosier Champions Super Finals Night has become a hallmark of the Hoosier Park racing season,” Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing, Rick Moore, noted. “It is with pride that we showcase the crème de la crème of Indiana Sired horses to the rest of the country and beyond. And, the rematch between harness racing’s top rated horse Wiggle It Jiggleit and Freaky Feet Pete is the icing on the cake of this most very special night of racing.”
In addition to all of the exciting races on the track, there will be a multitude of activities for racing fans to enjoy off the track as well. Hoosier Park and the Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) have once again partnered to offer numerous giveaways and live entertainment throughout the evening.
Starting at 10 a.m., racing fans can enter to win a 2014 Yamaha Grizzly at the ISA table located in the Terrace and at approximately 9:15 p.m., one lucky winner will be selected. Also, beginning at 3 p.m., the first 500 guests to visit the ISA table will receive a mystery voucher worth up to $1,000. Racing fans can also enter at the ISA table to win $100 gas cards and a variety of other prizes given away throughout the evening.
The first race will line-up behind the gate at 5:45 p.m.
