Clic K Extends Streak In Conroy Memorial
Clic K extended his win streak to six in a row with a wire-to-wire effort in the $7,500 Johnny Conroy Memorial Pace during Sunday's action-packed harness racing card at Truro Raceway.
With Clare MacDonald picking up the catch-drive, Plo Stables' Clic K took the lead from post four in the afternoon's 12th race and carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:25.4 en route to the 1:55 triumph with stablemate D Gs Camme (Gilles Barrieau) following one length behind in second. All Turain (Ryan Ellis) went first over and finished close behind in third.
This was the second race in a row that Jackie Matheson trainees Clic K and D Gs Camme finished first and second. They also swept the top spots in last weekend's $6,000 Inverness Invitational.
Clic K's current winning crusade began in early August and includes stops in three provinces and four racetracks. He has been campaigned by three trainers and has had four different drivers throughout the streak.
Sunday's victory was the ninth of the year for the seven-year-old Shanghai Phil gelding and lifted his seasonal earnings to $30,065.
Marc Campbell and Danny Romo both enjoyed driving doubles in Sunday's Donnie & George Turner Memorial Stakes for three-year-old pacers. Campbell scored wins in a pair of $7,538 divisions with his own trainee Proven Desire (1:57) and the Ken Collins-trained filly Woodmere Articblue (2:00.3). Romo was victorious with his trainee BNGs Express (1:57.2) and Gotta Move (1:58.4) from the Bernard McCallum stable.
