Cullen Triples With Newcomers
Alberta's season-leading horseman Travis Cullen earned a training triple on Friday night at Century Downs with three newcomers from the Manitoba fair circuit.
Cullen opened the eight-race card with Bounty Boy ($3.40), who won his Century Downs debut in a career-best clocking of 1:59.3. He also drove back-to-back winner Phoenician Gal ($7.30) for a 1:56.4 triumph in the fifth race and Canbec Hooligan ($11.60), who scored his first Century Downs victory in 1:55.3 in the finale.
All three of Cullen's Friday winners were campaigned this summer on the Manitoba Great Western Harness Racing Circuit by his parents Jodie and Ron.
Cullen is enjoying a career-best season as his stable surpassed his 2014 earnings of $715,751 earlier this month. The 23-year-old horseman is the second-leading trainer in all of Canada with 154 training wins this year and he boasts a chart-topping 0.527 URS.
