Ramblinglily Seeks Eighth Straight Win
Ramblinglily will be in search of her eighth consecutive victory this Saturday when she headlines the Mares Open Pace at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash live program will get underway at 6 p.m.
Walter Cheverie is listed to drive Ramblinglily, the six-year-old mare that has 11 wins from 13 starts this season for trainer Allan Jones and his co-owner Norman Leger of Shediac, NB.
The duo will start from Post 2 and could employ front-end tactics to control the outcome. The pacing star is surrounded by a pair of Jackie Matheson trainees on the starting gate, as General Luckypercy, who is owned by Jody Lynn Matheson, will start from Post 1 for Ron Matheson, while For All We Know (to be driven by Gary Chappell) will start from Post 3 for owner Bruce Wood of Marshfield, PE. The line-up also includes Yankee No More, Rose Valley, Stayoutofmyaffair and Best Risque.
Cheverie has another live drive in the co-feature (Race 12), as he is set to handle back-to-back winner Forever Paradise for the ownership group of Reg MacPherson and David and Aaron MacKenzie. The son of Western Paradise stopped the timer in 1:57.1 in his last start – he closed in :28.3 seconds to seal the deal. McJestic, trained by Troy Murray of Cornwall, and Perfect Escape are also triactor candidates.

Athletic Putnam has drawn the rail for the Sunday feature at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway. The program will kick off with a 1 p.m. first-race post time.
Athletic Putnam was fifth in his last assignment and was clocked in 2:00.2. He’s owned by trainer Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley and Don Callbeck of Kensington, PE. The field will also feature Minor Wisdon, Cambest Kisser, Outside The Wire, Smiley Bayama, Lucky Encounter and JRs Hurricane.
In other action, Walbert – who has been outside the top two in his last six starts – is back in to go in Race 10 for owner Ashley Gamester and driver Jason Hughes. The Stratford native also has a shot to take the trot class when he drives Phoenician for Buntainwood Farm of Brackley, PE and trainer Nicholas Oakes.
Sportsonthebeach, a three-year-old Sportswriter filly, will make her Island debut in Race 7 for trainer Blaine McKenna.
