Cdn.-Owned Amora Hanover Sweeps
Owner Garth Bechtel of Caledon, Ontario will be rushing to check the exchange rate after scooping up some American cash with Amora Hanover
in Wednesday's $18,000 final of the Wilkes-Barre Pace Late Closer Series at Pocono Downs.
The Mark Harder pupil came into the race riding a four-race win streak, which included triumphs in the first two legs of the series. Leaving from post eight, Amora Hanover and driver Jim Morrill Jr. saved ground in the middle of the pack while Everymileamemory set the pace.
Amora Hanover, who sat third around the final turn, tipped out late and easily sped by the pacesetter en route to a two-length victory in 1:53.1. U Foria BB finished second and Kiss Me Kate rallied for third.
Amora Hanover won for the sixth time in 16 lifetime starts. The three-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-Armbro Romance, who was purchased for $60,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, pushed her career earnings over $54,000 in the process.
