Spreester Scores Against Saratoga's Best
Spreester has been a winning machine throughout her career, and the locally-based mare recorded her first win of the season against feature company Friday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
Voted as the Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old of the Year at the Spa in the past two seasons, Spreester graduated from New York Sire Stakes star to overnight, hard hitting mare in 2015.
In Friday’s $17,900 Winners Over, the Paul Zabielski trainee moved out to the early lead and never had an anxious moment. Jimmy Devaux piloted Spreester, the race’s 1-2 betting favourite, to a wire-to-wire victory in 1:54.1 holding off Bye Bye Michelle (Mark Beckwith) and Ella V Horse (Stephane Bouchard) in the stretch.
For Spreester, it was the fifth win of the season and 19th in 48 career starts en route to earnings of over $337,000 for owner Kim Zabielski of Greenfield Center, NY.
