Nova Scotia Stake Drawn
Two compact divisions of the Nova Scotia Stake for two-year-old pacers have been drawn and are featured on Sunday’s program of live racing at Truro Raceway.
The 11-dash card of racing will kick off with a 1 p.m. first-race post time. The Nova Scotia Stake divisions, which are co-sponsored by Standardbred Canada, have been slated as Race 2 and Race 5.
The connections of three male pacers have entered their charges to contest the Nova Scotia Stake. The boys will head behind the gate for Race 2, which carries a purse of $8,940. Preceptor has been deemed the 5-2 morning line choice from Post 3. The Vintage Master colt has yet to start in a pari-mutuel contest, but he did record a 16-length win in 2:02.1 on September 3 over Truro. Trainer Paul Langille will be in the race bike for owner Rosanne Langille of Lower Onslow, NS.
Four female pacers will line up for the $9,130 filly division (Race 5), which will see a total of four lasses put their noses on the wings of the starting gate. West River Ambyr has garnered the morning line favouritism and has been assessed at early odds of 5-2. The brown daughter of Brandons Cowboy will start from Post 3 for her co-owning trainer, Clare MacDonald. Haley MacDonald, who also bred the filly along with Clare, shares ownership of the career winner of three races.
