Leg 3 Of Aged Mares Series Drawn
The third leg of the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series is now set for this Thursday (September 10) at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park. The connections of 13 distaffers have entered their charges to contest the event, which has been split into a pair of $3,365 dashes.
A field of six starters has been assembled to contest the first division, which has been carded as Race 8 on the 12-dash program. It is no surprise that Allen Jones’ star pupil Ramblinglily has been installed as the 5-2 morning line choice for the split. The Walter Cheverie-driven bay will look to record her sixth consecutive victory in the dash. All of the wins in the Articulator mare’s current streak have come over the CDP strip. The post position gods have also been kind to the five-year-old, as she has drawn the two-hole for Jones, who co-owns the mare along with Normand Leger. For All We Know (PP6, Gilles Barrieau, 3-1) and Rose Valley (PP3, Kenny Arsenault, 7-2) round out the top three selections on the morning line. Just the like the first division, the mare that has drawn Post 2 has been pegged as the 5-2 morning line favourite in the second division. The Brian Ladner-trained and Corey MacPherson-driven Best Risque has been given the early nod and heads into Leg 3 off of a pair of second-place finishes. The eight-year-old Cammibest mare was on the front in her last race (September 5 at the CDP) and was just caught late in a 1:57.3 mile. Best Risque has assembled a seasonal record of 5-6-4 from 30 starts this year and has banked just under $17,000 in purses during the campaign. Ladner co-owns the bay along with Lillian Ladner and Kevin Ladner. Romance In Camelot (PP1, Marc Campbell, 3-1) and General Luckypercy (PP3, Gilles Barrieau, 7-2) have also caught the eye of the morning line oddsmaker in the second division.
